Changing your watch strap is one of the easiest ways to completely transform the look of your watch.
Whether you're swapping straps on a chronograph like the Brew Metric Chronograph or a vintage-inspired piece like the Brew Retrograph, the process is simple once you understand how it works.
What You’ll Need
Most Brew watches use quick-release spring bars, which means:
You don’t need special tools.
If you’re switching to a bracelet or older-style strap without quick-release tabs, you may need: A spring bar tool and a soft cloth to protect the case.

Step 1: Turn the Watch Over
Place your watch face-down on a soft cloth to avoid scratching the crystal.
You’ll see the strap attached between the lugs using a small metal bar. This is the spring bar.
Step 2: Locate the Quick-Release Tab
On most Brew leather and suede straps, you’ll see a tiny sliding lever on the underside. This is the quick-release mechanism.

Step 3: Slide and Remove
Using your fingernail:
- Slide the small lever inward (toward the center of the strap).
- Gently pull the strap away from the case.
The spring bar will compress and release from the lug hole. Repeat on the other side.
Step 4: Attach the New Strap
To install:
1. Insert one end of the spring bar into one lug hole.
2. Pull the quick-release lever inward.
3. Align the opposite side with the lug hole.
4. Release the lever once it clicks into place.
Note: You should feel it seat securely. Gently tug the strap to confirm it’s locked in.
Changing to a Steel Bracelet
All Brew metal bracelets (including those on the Metric) feature quick-release spring bars.
That means attaching or removing the bracelet from the case does not require a spring bar tool.
To attach the bracelet:
1. Insert one end of the spring bar into the lug hole.
2. Use your fingertip to slide the quick-release lever inward.
3. Align the opposite end with the lug hole.
4. Release the lever once it clicks into place.
5. Gently tug the bracelet to confirm it’s securely seated.
Resizing the Bracelet
All Metric bracelet models include a bracelet sizing tool that allows you to slowly and securely screw the link pins out - rather than forcing them out with a hammer and punch.
To resize:
1. Locate the arrows on the inside of the bracelet links.
2. Align the included tool with the pin.
3. Slowly turn the tool to push the pin out in the direction of the arrow.
4. Remove the necessary links.
5. Reinsert and secure the pin back into place.
This screw-based system gives you more control and significantly reduces the risk of scratching or damaging the bracelet. Work over a flat surface so small pins don’t roll away.
If you’d prefer assistance, a local jeweler can size the bracelet in just a few minutes. Here is a link to a quick tutorial video.
