Brooklyn Bike Build
TIM HARNEY MOTORCYCLES
Recently we had the great opportunity to visit our good friend's Brooklyn motorcycle shop. Owned and operated by industrial designer, Tim Harney - he designs and produces everything from vintage, contemporary, and some incredible custom race bikes that his clients absolutely covet!
Above is Tim Harney sitting on his latest project. Happy as a kid in a candy shop? You can be sure of it. Only this is a bike shop and Tim produces absolutley everything! This race bike is built to his personal specs. Everything from the frame, tank, and carbon fiber panels (currently in process) is manufactured by Tim and his detailed designs. You will see an array of bikes that Tim works on. He is up for most any design and manufacturing challenge as he is an experienced industrial designer and craftsman.
Filing away at any warped surfaces across the metal with his HP1 LE automatic on the wrist. Tim is working to create a smooth finish until he is satisfied with the final level surface. He can spend countless hours, even days on this process until everything is symmetrical and ready for the next prepping stage. It's exciting to see how true craftsman work in their domain and to hear the creative thoughts of such people. An inspiration of what hard work and dedication can deliver!
"They sure don't make them like they used to." A look inside one of the old school lathes that Tim uses at the shop. This lathe weighs in at over 2.5 tons and was an absolute challenge to bring into the shop. But Tim assured me that it was worth the great effort and that this machine will last the test of time without any serious mechanical issues.
